Hidden Figures During the Civil Rights Era (Black History Month)

Brief discussion about African American women who worked to mobilize various African American organizations and movements such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee or SNCC, in the United States. Most of these women are not well known in United States History. Within the last sixty years historians have been working to change the narrative to show their contributions. This discussion will include talking about a number of African American women from Virginia and Maryland area.
